GeoVISION borehole video systems have been used in a variety of research applications, including mine subsidence studies, hydrogeological research, and glaciology.

Dominik Gräff , of the ETH Zurich Laboratory of Hydraulics, Hydrology and Glaciology, utilizes the Dual Scan Micro camera to measure the rate of basal sliding of the Rhone Glacier in the Swiss Alps. A short video clip can be found here.
